Progress Learning, a K12 online learning solutions provider backed by private equity firm Serent Capital, has acquired Horizon Education, a postsecondary exam prep company.

In October 2020, USATestprep, an online learning platform for grades 3-12 backed by Serent Capital since 2018, acquired Education Galaxy, a K-8 e-learning programmes provider. Following the merger, the combined entity was rebranded as Progress Learning.

Horizon Education will become the fifth product in the Progress Learning suite of education tools, which already comprises Progress Learning Elementary School, Liftoff for Adaptive Intervention, Progress Learning Middle School, and Progress Learning High School.

Founded in 2013 by chief executive Dustin Bainbridge, Horizon Education provides postsecondary readiness programmes aimed at helping high school students prepare for graduation and college entrance exams, including the SAT, PSAT, ACT and PreACT.

Will Clemens, chief executive of Progress Learning, said: “In 2020, we identified the best elementary education solution in Education Galaxy and now we are adding the best college preparation solution, Horizon Education, to our leading middle and high school product.”
