Queensland-based TechnologyOne, an enterprise software-as-a-service company, is acquiring Cambridge-headquartered Scientia, which offers timetabling and resource scheduling software for higher and further education.

TechnologyOne claims that the acquisition means its product now caters to 75% of higher education institutions in Australia, and 50% in the UK.

TechnologyOne’s chief executive Edward Chung said: “This acquisition is part of our strategy to deliver a student-centric, end-to-end enterprise resource planning SaaS solution for the higher education sector. Scientia’s product integration into our already world-class student management, human resource planning, assets, and finance supply chain products, rises to meet the current needs of the higher education sector.”

Adrian Di Marco, TechnologyOne’s founder and chairman, added: “This is our company’s first international acquisition and it demonstrates our deep commitment to serving the higher education sector and the UK market. The unique IP and market-leading functionality of Scientia’s product supports our vision of delivering enterprise software that is incredibly easy to use. We are excited about the opportunities this will bring to both our UK and Australian customers in the coming years.”
