Spain: Cinven-backed Omnes buys Centro de Estudios de Innovacion
Omnes Education (formerly INSEEC U), a French higher education provider backed by private equity firm Cinven, has acquired Centro de Estudios de Innovacion (CEI), a Spanish school specialising in design, marketing and technology.
This acquisition follows the purchase of another Spanish company, EU Business School, which was bought by Omnes last January.
Founded in 1991 by José Antonio Searle and led by Diego Searle, CEI has two campuses in Madrid and Seville, and plans to open a third campus in Valencia in September 2022.
The school offers master’s programmes on site and online to more than 1,700 students per year in graphic design, web development, production and post-production, big data, digital marketing, interior design and video games. CEI also provides short courses, intensive courses and bootcamps for upskilling and reskilling.
With this acquisition, Omnes aims at further expanding across Europe and strengthening its market position in Spain. The group intends to open new CEI campuses in Malaga and Barcelona in the coming years.
Founded in 1975, Omnes is headquartered in Paris and manages 12 campuses located across Europe, the US and Africa, with 35,000 students. The company generates annual revenue of around €350 million.
Cinven acquired INSEEC U from French private equity firm Apax Partners in March 2019, in a secondary buyout that valued the business at around €800 million. Last year, the company rebranded as Omnes Education and announced a five-year strategic plan with a €100m investment.
Omnes was advised by Eight Advisory, One to One and CMS, while KPMG Corporate Finance and Dentons advised CEI on the deal.
