Austrian provider of education and training services Aspire Education, which is backed by private equity firm Quadriga Capital, has acquired IT training company Brainymotion.

This is the sixth acquisition completed by Aspire over the last four years, with the aim of expanding its hybrid education platform.

Based in Eschborn, Germany, Brainymotion offers a range of training courses in IT and management, including IT systems and software development and project management training.

Steinbeis advised Brainymotion on the transaction.

Aspire was established by Quadriga as an acquisition platform with the aim of building a hub for the education lifelong sector in the DACH region.

The firm initially acquired Ibis acam, a training and education provider generating revenue of around €70m, from Swiss private equity house Constellation Capital in October 2014.

The group further expanded with several acquisitions, including the purchase of Austrian provider of B2B IT training Enterprise Training Center in May 2018.

Quadriga is a mid-market private equity firm that typically invests equity tickets of at least €20m in companies generating revenue of €50-300m, based across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

This publication revealed last February that Quadriga is preparing the sale of the company. Aspire will be marketed off an EBITDA of around €10m and is likely to reach a valuation of up to 12x.
