Herndon, Virginia-based working adult education company Strategic Education Inc (SEI), which owns for-profit online Strayer University and Capella University, has reported net income of $9.6 million for the first quarter of 2022, up from net income of $7 million reported for the first quarter of 2021.

Revenue for the quarter increased to $290.3 million, up from $258.9 million reported for Q1 2021.

SEI chief executive Karl McDonnell said: “We are pleased with continued stabilisation of enrolment within the US higher education segment during the first quarter of 2022. We are also encouraged by continued progress within education technology services, especially the growth in Sophia Learning, and are optimistic about demand in Australia and New Zealand as borders have opened and international students are returning.”
