California-based IXL Learning, ​a K12 personalised learning platform, has acquired Curiosity Media, a language platform for learning Spanish and English headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.

Curiosity Media’s products include SpanishDict, inglés.com and Fluencia, which it claims helps more than 100 million people develop languages skills each year.

Last year, IXL Learning acquired Rosetta Stone adding to its ownership of IXL English Language Arts and Vocabulary.com.

SpanishDict debuted in 1999 and offers Spanish-language learners with tools including millions of free dictionary entries, verb conjugations, example sentences, pronunciation videos, vocabulary quizzes and interactive lessons.

inglés.com helps learners develop English-language skills online and includes comprehensive language practice, native-speaker videos and in-depth translations.

Fluencia, Curiosity Media’s personalized learning app, uses adaptive technology and neuroscience research to optimise how people learn Spanish. The platform’s interactive exercises, step-by-step instructions and personalised feedback encourage users to build language skills while learning at their own pace.
