Education provider Inspired Learning Group (ILG) has acquired St. Francis’ College, an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3–18 based in Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

Following the acquisition, St. Francis will benefit from significant investment that will go towards improving the college’s facilities and professional development opportunities, according to a statement.

“In view of the significant challenges faced by many independent schools in wake of the global pandemic, the governors decided to seek a long term, sustainable solution to enable Saint Francis’ to continue with its development plans”, the company said in a statement.

ILG will be working closely with Bronwen Goulding, St. Francis current head, and her deputy, James Nichols, who will succeed Goulding on her retirement at the end of the academic year.

Founded by chief executive Amit Mehta, ILG comprises 18 independent schools and nurseries, with over 2,000 students across South-East England. Its advisory board is chaired by David Tidmarsh, former headmaster of St Martin’s, Northwood, and includes Neil Roskilly, previous chief executive of the Independent Schools Association.

Commenting on the acquisition, Mehta said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming St Francis’ College into Inspired Learning Group and very much look forward to supporting the school in providing a stimulating education that enables young women to thrive in an ever-changing global environment.”

St Francis’ College will officially become part of ILG on 12 May 2022.
