The Trill Impact Fund has acquired a majority stake in digital training company Karriere Tutor from German private equity firm Findos Investor.
Following the deal, Karriere’s founder Oliver Herbig will maintain a significant shareholding and be co-chief executive alongside Thomas Rekittke.
Findos, which invests in German companies with turnover between €25-200 million, bought karriere tutor in January 2021.
Founded in 2015 and based in Königstein, Bavaria, Karriere provides state-subsidised training in Germany for jobseekers and has helped more than 15,000 people acquire relevant digital job skills. The company employs around 150 people and offers 800 certified online courses with professional development content.
Stockholm and Munich-based Trill Impact stated it plans to expand the digital course offering for government-funded professional training and make the courses accessible to more graduates, increasing brand awareness among prospective graduates, and expand digital sales and marketing expertise as well as ramp up the automation of business processes.
Trill Impact closed its €900 million mid-market impact buyout fund in the third quarter last year. karriere tutor is the fifth platform investment and the fourteenth private equity transaction made by the fund, which invests to support and develop mid-sized companies in Northern Europe that address social and environmental challenges in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Houlihan Lokey served as the exclusive financial advisor to the shareholders of Karriere.
Karriere’s Herbig said: “With Trill Impact, we have found an owner who shares this vision, our values and entrepreneurial spirit. Together we want to grow the range of courses, expand into adjacent educational offerings and offer future-proof professional education.”
