Editis, a publishing company that is part of media and communications group Vivendi, has acquired French digital education platform Educlever from private equity house Entrepreneur Invest.

Following the deal, Educlever managing directors Emmanuel Pasquier and Michaël Hiroux will join the education division of Editis, while founder Benjamin Magnard will leave the company.

With this acquisition, Editis intends to strengthen its position in the digital education and training market across France.

Founded in 2000, Educlever specialises in adaptive learning, a technology that uses artificial intelligence to build personalised learning paths and customised training experiences. The business comprises tutoring platforms Maxicours and Enseigno, grammar and orthography platform Orthodidactic, maths and French learning platform E-scope and Le Robert certification.

Led by managing director Michèle Benbunan and based in Paris, Editis publishes around 5,000 titles each year, including literature, illustrated, educational and children books. Vivendi acquired the business from Spanish publishing group Planeta in January 2019, in a deal which gave the company an enterprise value of €900 million.
