The Awards

Bright Horizons has been crowned ‘Education Business of the Year’, at the 4th annual EducationInvestor awards.

The awards ceremony, held on Thursday at London's Hilton Park Lane Hotel, saw EducationInvestor’s panel of expert judges commend the nursery chain for its extensive growth in a highly regulated sector, and its investment in its staff.

Bright Horizons saw off competition from groups including Cambridge Education, INTO University Partnerships and the London School of Business & Finance to win the gong.

The ceremony, presented by BBC education correspondent Reeta Chakrabarti, saw the Outstanding Individual Contribution award go to Brett Wigdortz, the chief executive of Teach First.

Other big winners included Babcock, which won both the Further or Vocational Education Provider of the Year award, and the Education Partnership of the Year award.

The Exporting Excellence Award, for success in the international market, went to the CfBT Education Trust, which particularly impressed the judges with its growth in the Gulf.

The EducationInvestor awards celebrate innovation and excellence among businesses and other organisations involved in the education sector.

More than 700 guests attended this year’s ceremony, which saw awards presented in 24 categories.

The shortlist was judged by a panel of 13 judges, drawn from across the education sector.
